good neighbour torontoThe Good Neighbour Espresso Bar can not only be found in the Junction, but also in Koreatown. Owners/husband-and-wife-duo Max and Amara Mancuso weren't really looking to open a second location, but once they saw the former space of shuttered Gallant Bicycles, they immediately fell in love.

With an open and airy vibe, exposed brick wall and hardwood floors, it's easy to see why they did. Like their original cafe on Annette St., this place feels bright and welcoming, although the furnishings at this spot are currently more sparse and minimalist.

good neighbour torontoThere's no reason to mess with success, so this K-town outpost sticks to what works at its sibling shop, using beans from roaster Intelligentsia for its espresso-based bevvies (espresso, $2.86; Americano, $3.33/$4.29; macchiato/cortado/cappuccino, $3.57; latte, $4.29) and drip coffee ($1.90-$2.38), along with Tealish for its loose leaf teas ($2.86).

There's also seasonal panini and salads available ($7-$9), made at the Mancusos' own Annette Food Market (their Italian restaurant right beside the original Good Neighbour), where everything is made from scratch-including freshly baked bread!

good neighbour torontoWhile the Mancusos' home is in the Junction, Max used to live in this part of town (and has become reacquainted with it by eating everything in the neighbourhood while preparing to open this cafe) and remembers it fondly. "I forgot how much I love this area," he tells me.
